General Sunday Volunteering

The dates for our Sunday public planting days are listed on the front page of this website.
email info@motuihe.org.nz to register for a volunteer trip. You also need to book as planters ticket on the ferry by phoning Fullers on 3679111. You can pay for the ticket at the time of phoning or get a booking number and pay at the ticket office on Sunday morning. Seats on the ferry are allocated priority one to prepaid tickets, priority two goes to those who have a booking number and priority three to those who do not book at all. 
The ferry leaves Downtown Auckland pier four at 9.15 am. Look for a Motuihe volunteer near the pier one ticket office before 9 am to collect a volunteer card to qualify you for the discounted fare of $24.50 return. children are $12.60 (15 and under). 

Bring your lunch a drink, sturdy shoes, garden gloves if you have them and sun or rain protection.
We provide a BBQ sausage and a hot drink of tea, coffee or Milo.
The work is tree planting in the wetter months and over the summer it is nursery work, potting up plants and weeding.
The ferry leaves Motuihe at 4.15 up to the end of April, then 3.15 in the winter and back to 4.15 in November. It gets back into Auckland approx. an hour after departing Motuihe, depending on Fullers schedule.

Please listen to 08006688443 after 7 am on Sunday morning to check whether the trip is going ahead or not due to weather.

Biosecurity is very important on Motuihe. Please make sure your shoes are clean and that your bag is closed and does not have any ants or other insects in it.
