Reptile Monitoring Training Motuihe Dec 3  2017

Thankyou Dylan and Matt for such an enjoyable day.

Photo thanks to Louise Cotterall. Opportunity thanks to our expert reptile handler, Matt Baber. Our volunteer reptile monitoring team do not handle the lizards.

Dear Reptile Monitoring Team,

Thankyou for attending the training day last Sunday. What a great day. We now have 20 of us trained to carry out our Pilot survey at the end of February 2018 and our first full survey in December 2018.

If you missed the training day we will be happy to catch you up, either next Sunday Dec 17 or during our Pilot Survey during the weekend of Feb 24 – 25 2018. You can also do lots of preparation with the “Field Guide” attached and the Trakka card photos I will send.

Next Sunday (17 Dec) is a volunteer day so I will go out to Motuihe and check out the monitoring grid for the Raukawa geckos down below Bald Knob. If anyone would like to help with this I would love some company. (Same ferry arrangements as for Dec 3 – just let me know that you are coming so that we can book places on the ferry.)

Once this check is completed, I will be able to use your ideas that you contributed to our training workshop to plan our approach for the weekend of our pilot survey.

In the mean-time, the dates for this Pilot survey will be Feb 24-25 with a postponement date of 10-11 March.
